2nd Hand

Well it's not really a hand of sorts, more like combat pincers. Like the hand, I created it separately and will later join it with the arm itself.

Hands

And here is a hand.

Again, this was made by extruding extruding and extruding some more. I made the fingers uniquely long to be more like alien fingers and I think it looks good. Not quite ET though.

And here is the finished thing, incl claws.

Head

As you can see I have now made a head. I know I was going to 'work from the bottom up' but I really wanted to get started on the head.. and I did.

This was extremely difficult to create and took em a good few days to make as contours needed to be thought in advance for things like eyes mouth and general face structure. Overall I don't think I've done a bad job, except the head maybe slightly too big.

Time for the extras - finished feet

Time to add the extra parts, like the feet, hands and head. So I thought I might as well start from the bottom up and start with the feet. And I think I've done quite a good job on them too.

Here you go.

To do this as easily as possible and to avoid a lot of confusion during setup I thought I'd just extrude the part of the left I had downwards and then extrude some parts outwards to shape into the toes, and then ultimately the claws on the end of them.

Finished Joining

I've finished joining the arms and legs together to the body. It was hard work, but with a LOT of experimenting with moving edges on edges and splitting parts I finally have them on the body. I even duplicated it to give you a rough idea of what the body will look like when finished.

Modelling the Arm and preparing for joining joints

Here is the arm modelled.

It's OK. It has the shoulder ready for joining, has a nice elbow that I might tweak better later and wrist ready for making a hand.

But now comes the tricky part.. attaching these parts to the actual body itself.

As you can see from the picture below I am going to have to somehow connect the ends of the legs (and arms respectively) onto the body.

A3 leg joint

Although the legs, for example, have 12 edges to connect from and the body only has about 6 faces with it's edges to choose from to attach to these 12 edges. It may be that I will have to add a few more divisions on the body or split edges.

Modelling the Skeletoid

Now it's time to start modelling the Skeletoid, the second creature I have decided to model from X-com apocalypse.

First off though, here is the reference I am using to model from..

And here is what I have modelled so far..

Not much but It'll get there. I started out on this like I did the Anthropod, and that is to model first the body, then the leg then arm. then its the sticky-out bits like hands, feet and head. But lets not get too far into it already.

Here I got a cylinder of 8 sides and about 6 subdivisions going down it for the body and cut it in half. then did the same for the leg but didn't cut it in half. Instead I duplicated it and joined them together to start off the look of the boney skeleton legs.
